Presnitz

Typical dessert from Trieste and Gorizia made with rolled puff pastry with a filling of walnuts, almonds, pine nuts, figs, plums, apricots, raisins, grated chocolate, sugar, cinnamon, cloves and rum.

Presnitz is similar to gubana, putizza and strudel. Like putizza and pinza, it is a typical Easter dessert but can be enjoyed all year round.

Ingredients:

The dough: flour, sugar, butter, eggs, oil, honey, milk, yeast, salt and vanilla

The filling: raisins, chopped nuts (walnuts, toasted hazelnuts, almonds), pine nuts, egg white, apricot jam, chopped dark chocolate, rum and flavourings such as cinnamon, cloves, grated lemon and orange zest.
